This project continued the previous project to design proposals for the most urban section of the Sheaf Valley in Sheffield. The river sheaf flows through the site, and an important public open space - Granville Square, is within this site. Due to the current flood risk of River Sheaf, more trees in various typologies and good quality need to be planted to mitigate flood and create space and experience for people.
There are two stages of the project. Stage 1 aims to create a strategic masterplan for the whole area, while stage 2 is to produce a tree-based detailed urban design of the Granville Square. The focus of the intervention is to plant trees and initiate a city wide urban forest strategy. This is proposed in the context of the need for a global increase in urban forest for climate resilience and biodiversity, and contribute to the Sheffield image as THE OUTDOOR CITY.
As one of the memeber of the group, I contributed to the collage, strategic plan, analysis diagram, conceptual plan, sections, square plan, illustrations and axonometric.
